The new eVisa (no more paper stickers)
On 15 July 2025, the UK Government has introduced eVisas for people applying to visit the UK as a visitor.
An eVisa is a digital record of your immigration status, linked to your passport. There is no visa sticker in your passport — everything is stored electronically.
What does this mean in practice?
You don’t need to collect your passport from the visa centre after a decision is made.
If your passport is lost or replaced, you can easily update your eVisa details online.
You still need your passport when travelling to the UK, but the eVisa will be checked electronically when you arrive.
This is part of the UK’s move towards a fully digital immigration system.
