The new eVisa (no more paper stickers)

On 15 July 2025, the UK Government has introduced eVisas for people applying to visit the UK as a visitor.

An eVisa is a digital record of your immigration status, linked to your passport. There is no visa sticker in your passport — everything is stored electronically.

What does this mean in practice?

  • You don’t need to collect your passport from the visa centre after a decision is made.

  • If your passport is lost or replaced, you can easily update your eVisa details online.

  • You still need your passport when travelling to the UK, but the eVisa will be checked electronically when you arrive.

This is part of the UK’s move towards a fully digital immigration system.
