UK Visit Visa Fees Increasing from April 2026

From 8 April 2026, the UK Home Office has introduced an increase in visa fees, including Standard Visitor visas. This is part of a wider rise across most immigration routes, typically around 6–7%.

What Has Changed?

For visit visas, the key change is:

  • Standard Visitor Visa (up to 6 months)

    • Old fee: £127

    • New fee:£135

This is the most common visa used for tourism, family visits, and short business trips.

Long-Term Visit Visas

Long-term visit visas have also increased and now cost:

  • 2-year visit visa: £506 (previously £475)

  • 5-year visit visa: £898 (previously £848)

  • 10-year visit visa: £1,123 (previously £1,059)

These visas continue to follow the same upward trend in line with the wider fee increases introduced in April 2026.

(As a reminder, these visas still only allow stays of up to 6 months per visit.)

ASKVisas Insight

  • The increase is modest, but continues a steady upward trend in UK visa costs

  • There is no change to visa rules or eligibility—only the fee

  • Applications submitted before 8 April 2026 pay the old fee; after that date, the new fee applies

While the fee increase is relatively small, refusals remain far more costly than the application itself. A poorly prepared application risks losing the full fee with no refund.

Our advice remains unchanged:

Focus on strong documentation, clear purpose of visit, and credible financial evidence—this is what actually determines success.
