On 8 October 2026, two UK visit visa rules were amended. Both are about training and workshops. Most visitors will not notice a difference, but we want you to know.
What changed?
| What it used to say | What it says now | |
|---|---|---|
| Work training | Employees of overseas companies had to show the training was not available in their home country. | They no longer need to show this. The training must still be a permitted activity. |
| Workshops and debates | Not named as permitted activities for visitors. | All visitors may attend workshops and debates, and take part in skills competitions, if they meet the visitor rules. |
Who does this affect?
Some business visitors and people attending events or short courses.
